Success is an attitude! There is a certain level of anticipation that surrounds all relays at North Attleboro. Everyone wants to be part of one. I’m sure it’s the same for most teams.

But interest in the 4X100 is all that and more. There is a culture that exudes confidence, in the speed of the team and especially in the handoffs. As soon as an athlete shows potential they have a baton in their hand. Most years, by the third day of practice every sprinter is doing handoffs. Over the remainder of the season the main relay core devotes time to this skill on a nearly daily basis.

It wasn’t always that way - but almost. I remember back to 1979, my first year coaching. One of the first major goals became breaking the school record in the 4X100. The team has come along way since then. Over the next few days I’ll cover how that progress occurred and how we've been fortunate enough to maintain a high level of 4X100 success.

Topics will include:

The 4X1 Team

How the 4X100 has evolved.

Selecting the team.

How attention to detail makes a difference.
