TEAM RULES
PRACTICE ATTENDANCE
Attendance is required at all practices.
Injured athletes still attend practice.
Any athlete who is in school but unable to attend practice must have a note
from home stating the reason for missing practice. This note must be given to
the coach before practice – not the next day.
Although absence for a doctor’s appointment will be excused, attempts
should be made to schedule appointments when they will not cause a conflict.
The athlete must bring proof of a doctor visit to the following practice.
Outside job, team, or club responsibilities are not considered excused absences.
A student staying after school for extra help will inform the coach in writing
ahead of time and report to practice after the extra help.
PRACTICE ATTIRE
Athletes must bring sweats to practice on cool or cold days. Athletes showing
up to practice without sweats on cold days will be sent home.
Athletes are to wear proper footwear to the track and throughout the practice
until they have left the track. Athletic shoes and running spikes are the only
things considered proper footwear. Athletes are not to wear shoes, boots, sandals,
or go barefoot.
TEAM UNIFORM RESPONSIBILITIES
Athletes are only to wear uniforms on meet days.
Uniforms must not be worn to practice, used for physical education classes,
or lent to other people.
Athletes are required to return the uniform that they were given. If the proper
uniform is not returned they will be charged.
MEET ATTIRE
All athletes will be issued shirts and shorts.
The athlete is to wear the team uniform for the entire meet.
Sweats are to be removed during the competition so that the team uniform is
visible. Exceptions may be made on a per case basis during cold weather.
Athletes are to wear proper footwear to the track and throughout the meet until
they have left the track. Athletic shoes and running spikes are the only things
considered proper footwear. Athletes are not to wear shoes, boots, sandals,
or go barefoot.
MEET ATTENDANCE
Athletes are required to attend all meets whether competing or not.
Athletes stay until the end of the meet. The end of the meet is considered the
end of the post-meet team meeting.
Athletes requiring an exception from this rule must clear it with the coach
before 3:00 PM on meet day.
BUS RULES
Athletes must travel to and from the meet by school transportation.
Exceptions to this rule are only allowed by producing a note signed by both
the athletic director and a member of central administration.
An athlete that misses the bus is considered unexcused. They will not be allowed
to drive themselves to the meet to compete.
TEAM SUPPORT
When athletes are not competing they are expected to be by the track or field
event areas supporting their teammates. Athletes are not to sit in the bleachers
for extended periods of time.
HELPING OUT ON EVENTS
All athletes are required to help with moving hurdles and setting them up for
events. Unless warming up for the next event all athletes will help out with
this duty.
The girls’ team is responsible for setting up the high jump and putting
away the hurdles.
GUIDELINES FOR INJURED ATHLETES
Athletes are to report any injury, no matter how slight it may seem, to the
coach.
Once an athlete has been prohibited from competing by a doctor that athlete
cannot return to competition until cleared by a doctor.
END OF SEASON OBLIGATIONS - RETURN
OF UNIFORM
The uniform must be returned to Mr. Estey. The uniform is not to be given to
any other person.
END OF SEASON OBLIGATIONS - ATTENDANCE
AT BANQUET
The banquet is the final responsibility for athletes. Awards will not be given
to athletes that skip the banquet and they will not be given credit for successful
completion of the season.
REMINDER OF SCHOOL ISSUED RULES
Athletes are reminded that it is their obligation to read the rules contained on the athlete’s agreement.
Special reminder:
Athletes that are not in school for five periods are ineligible to practice
or compete that day.
Athletes that are not in school for five periods on Friday are not eligible
to compete or practice over the weekend.
