12/20/07 Track Retirement Party
I get my first look at the crowd.

Shaking hands with Jerry Espinosa

(even though he broke my high jump record!)

Next I notice Frank Mooney, MSTCA Executive Director.
NAGTO President Lori Flannery (mother of '08 co-captain Katy) introduces the master of ceremony - Scott Holster.
Scott talks about the teaching aspects of coaching.
Athletic Director Paul Sullivan presents a plaque chronicling my career at North Attleboro.
Looking for typos.
Coach McGrail talks about taking over the reins.
Caption Contest.
Frank, the dean of area coaching with over 40 years at Seekonk.
The plaque reads, "Thanks for your endless enthusiasm, guidance and counseling that made dreamers into believers!"
Jerry and I share a few moments.
NAGTO board member Beth Goldberg (mom of Adrienne and Lauren) gets people ready to head to the cafeteria.
"Not so fast. I want the mike first!"
Matt with Peter Violet. Grandma Estey in the background.

A special picture for me. Lynn "Liberatore" and Emily "Estey" Taylor both had great distance careers at NA. Both were XC league MVP's (Lynn twice) and each medaled on both the Gardner and Northfield courses. Unfortunately I took this picture just after Cheryl "Lyons" Sullivan had left - another runner who placed at both those courses. The next morning on the way to work I passed Cheryl and Lynn on their Friday run.

In track, Lynn still holds North's two-mile record while Emily holds the mile, 300H and heptathlon.

I talked for a few minutes with Ethan when things calmed down. He talked track (my specialty) while I talked oysters (his specialty). He was part of the 4 X 800M relay team whose record, set in 1993, was just eclipsed last spring. In the background are two other members of that relay - Derek Ellis (now the Mansfield girls' coach) and Eric "the Imitator" Roland. That is a story for another day.
