Hockomock alumni were in attendance at the NCAA regional qualifiers in all three divisions.
For Jackie Oates and Stephanie McNamara, their performances bought them another week of competition.
In Division 1
Meredith Leenhouts ran 4 th for the 10 th place Yale Bulldogs. Senior Leenhouts ran 22:14.35 on the Franklin Park 6K course for a 5:59 per mile average – good for 64 th place overall.
Also in the same race was Leanna Godfrey, a freshman running for Hartford University. She placed 227 th with a 25:15.00. (6:48 ave.) Hartford entered just two runners therefore posting no team score.
In Division 2
Junior Jackie Oates is headed to nationals as a member of the first place Stonehill CollegeSkyhawks. This is repeat performance for Stonehill. They have qualified as a team in seven of the last eight years. Oates placed 17 th overall with a 24:12.4 (6:32)
Senior Samantha Robbins placed 23 rd in the same race (24:26.6-6:36). She was Bentley's 4 th runner across the line. Bentley was third in the competition but does not go on.
Katelyn Meagher (soph) was 51 st , running in the 5 th spot for 7 th place Merrimack. (25:47.6-6:58)
Coincidently, Oates, Robbins and Meagher were named to the A-10 All Conference Third Team earlier this season.
In Division 3
Stephanie McNamara was the first freshman across the line and the second of five Hock alumni in the meet. Her 9 th place finish was a PR (22:02.7-5:57) and gave her an automatic bid to Nationals. Five of the runners ahead of her were seniors, and she was 5 spots ahead of the runner-up freshman.
Teammate Katy O'Brien, Tufts's captain, was 5 th overall (21:43.1-5:52) and will be joining McNamara. Tufts was 6 th overall, not qualifying as a team – despite having three runners in the top-10.
Junior Jill Sergi was 32 nd overall (22:40.1- 6:07). Sergi was the leading runner for #11 Connecticut College.
Roger Williams College top runner was sophomore Emily Tran. Tran placed 50 th in 23:03.0 – 6:13. Roger Williams placed 19 th .
Another Hock team-leader was Marianne Mealey, top runner for 29 th place Westfield State College. Mealey placed 130 th (24:21.1-6:34).
There were 43 teams and 344 runners in the D3 race.
