I have to start with a story that has become very familiar. I've mentioned the names Stephanie McNamara and Katie O'Brien an inordinate number of times this fall. Forgive me. But those two have had an inordinately incredible season. Friday it started with a first place finish in the DMR. THat would seem great enough, but it also happened to be a meet record. That is virtually unheard of from a school (Tufts) that doesn't command the recruitring $$ of some bigger universities. Their 11:43.47 puts them at #1 seed for the DIII national meet. Stephanie opened up with a 3:36 for the 1200 and Katy threw down a 2:14 for the half. The next day Stephanie broke 5:00 in the mile for the first time. Her 4:58.67 placed sixth and gained All New England honors.
Junior TyLynn Graham (URI) placed 2nd in the high jump with a PR of 5'8.75" givig NA another alumni all-New England honor. Graham had a busy two days. She finished 9th in hurdles with rounds of 8:50, 8:51, 8:38, 9th in triple jump with a PR 37'2.25" and also competed in long jump.
Mansfield & Northeastern thrower Patricia Harrison was 8th in shot put at 42'7".
The Hocks highest male placement was Stoughton's Shawn Leonard (6th-6'6.25). In the same event Joe D'Agostino (Canton-Stonehill) was 11th at 6'4.25". At the same eight high school teammate Adrien Li was 14th for Northeastern.
Terry Young (Mansfield-UMass Lowell) was 9th in long jump at 21'10".
Sharon & Bentley's Dan Darcy moved up to the mile and placed 16th in 4:15.73.
Peter Conti (Mansfield&Sacred Heart) was 17th in the 55MHurdles at 8.06.
Teammate Caitlin Hurley made semis of the 55M after running 7.27 in the trials. She finished 10th overall. Caitlin also ran 25.82 in the 200M placing 14th, three spots ahead of Foxboro alum Holly Heinricker (UMass-26.03).
Also in the mile was Sam Robbins (Franklin&Bentley-5:17-24th). Franklin & Stonehill's Lindsey Booth was 19th in 3:03.97.
In the Ivy League Championships Meredith Leenhouts (SR-Franklin-Yale) placed 11th in the 800M at 2:14.93. She was also part of the 5th place 4X800M team at 9:07.49.
