North Attleboro had a successful day at heptathlon as they placed 5th in the team competition. The meet was held at Hingham High School over a two-day span. Eighty-five athletes competed on the first day and 81 completed the entire competition.

Leah Seward led the NA scoring, placing in a tie for 4th with Brittany Pierce of Somerset. Her total of 3,571 is one of the top 5 totals in NA history. On the first day Leah set a North Attleboro heptathlon 200M record of 26.0 breaking the old record of 26.55 set by Vanessa Megna. With scorching temperatures on day two she climbed from seventh to fourth propelled by another top NA hep mark. Her 16'4.5” broke the old mark of 16'1” by Liz Frederick.

Amanda Walkins was NA's second leading scorer. Her 3,107 points was good for 17th place. That was a huge leap from 37th where she stood at the end of day 1. Her biggest bump came in javelin where she became just the second NA girl to throw over 100' at heptathlon. Her 103' toss was a PR.

Missy Megna finished out the team scoring by placing 56th with 2,468 points. Her total was a testament to fortitude, having just returned to serious competition this year after knee surgery. Her 4'5” high jump tied for team best. By the end of the second day the effects of prolonged competition showed but she gutted out the 800M in 3:03.9 to help the team

Two throwers also competed for NA, trying their hand in some non-traditional events. Tiffany Badger didn't get the chance to perform in her primary event of discus (PR-103'8), but she high jumped strongly and got solid points in shot put. She finished 71st with 1,975 points.

Nikki Lambert competed for the third consecutive year (States – NA Invitaional – States). This year she produced her best total. Nikki placed 74th with 1,828 points. Her strongest events were high jump and 800M.

The overall winner was Jen Lin of Bridgewater-Raynham and helped her team win the overall title. Her 4,140 points gave her a 216 point margin of victory over Susan Plungis. Plungis was state champion last week and set a new meet record in that event at 38.00M (approximately 126').

Third overall was the Hocks own Francesca Peretti at 3,819 points. Her strengths were the 100M Hurdles (15.9) and long jump (5.10M).
