PHYSICAL EDUCATION OBJECTIVES
The goal of physical education is to provide activities that develop or enhance:
1. cardiovascular fitness, strength and flexibility
2. skills necessary for successful participation in team, dual and individual sports
3. body awareness, symmetry, grace and control of movement
4. alertness and quick response to challenges
Providing these experiences within a supportive group atmosphere will promote the social objectives of a society that has:
1. the ability to work within diverse groups toward a common goal
2. sympathetic attitude toward the capabilities and limitations of others
3. a respectful attitude toward peers and authority
4. an ability to accept both leadership and supporting roles
5. a healthful spirit toward victory and defeat
Through this development of physical and social skills, physical education will help develop adults who will possess:
1. a positive self image
2. an enjoyment of physical activity
3. an appreciation for the benefits of physical fitness
